6th Edition Leak Thoughts and More

6th Edition “Rules” have been leaked recently; am I convinced they’re real or not? Well, barring veracity, I think they’re a superb set or rules, if not a little rough, but to be expected for a supposed early draft of GW’s 6th edition ruleset.  If all goes as planned, I’ll have a battle report Monday the 16th with my Blood Angels versus a friend’s Tau using them.

Back on track, though – do I think they’re legit? In short, yes. Yes I do. The amount of work was monumental in both the rules themselves and the codex update document, and for just one or two trolls to make this to poke fun at 40K fans, it just seems odd. But images of Deathnote come to mind – the fact that they thought the work was too much work for Light allowed Light to *nearly* get away with his plan. And as for it being a set of fanmade rules, well, to make these amazing rules and go without credit, it’d be a sad thing. Not to mention GW apparently going on a spree to remove the link in several places (or so I’ve heard); it’s probably a logical fallacy, but one would think that if the set was fake, why bother rushing to remove it?
But enough about that – feel free to check out BellOfLostSouls.net, Kirby’s 40K blog, Blood of Kittens, and The Back 40K for more good input on the “6th edition” set.  Onto the progress of my armies!

The Urliam 11th Loyal Guard Regiment is finally finished in acquiring all its units. A large shipment from The WarStore came in, and I now have over 80 infantry models, 9 heavy weapons teams, 2 Sentinel walkers, 6 Chimera transports, 2 Manticore MLRS tanks, and a single Devil Dog melta tank. And all of it has to be painted in time for Valhalla in June – challenge accepted. Furthermore, I have my entire Blood Conquerors Marine force, which consists of about 55 heavy infantry, 2 Rhino transports, 2 Baal-pattern Predator tanks, one Dreadnought, Stormraven gunship, and Land Raider Redeemer – most of which also have to be painted in time.

However, this is good for both you, the reader, and me, the player. Why, exactly? Well, I get to have two fully-painted armies in record time (for me, anyway) and you guys get to watch it come together in record time, as well – if all goes well, it’ll average a unit a week. I’ll have nothing to do with making some pansy blog that barely updates. :D To save myself from hypocrisy, though, I must apologize that this post truly has little in the way of real updates. No pics? Terrible! No batrep? Atrocious! Sorry, all, but do rest assured that I’ll get a review of my two new Sabol Army Transport: Motor Pools up tomorrow, along with an overview of some other products I was able to get my hands on. Stay tuned, and feel free to discuss the 6th edition leak below in the comments!

PS: If you do want the 6th edition leak, look on Kirby’s 40K blog (google that) and scroll down a bit – I don’t want to put a direct link for fear that GW goes on a copyright rampage.

Checking In

Yes, I'm alive, but sadly, I have no new substantial post ready yet. This upcoming week consists of semester exams, so I'll have more free time than normal, thankfully. Expect a new post sometime around this coming Wednesday, I believe. Thanks!

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Well, as usual, life's happened and I didn't get as much painting done as I would've liked, but nonetheless, I've made progress and have several Blood Angels vehicles basecoated, dullcoated, and ready for detail painting (Also, pardon blurry photos - I'm working on making a setup to knock that problem out soon).

I've also got two essentially completed vehicles and a Tactical Squad to give you all a taste of the paint scheme I'm aiming for on my so-called "Blood Conquerors"; more on that in a later post if I get some time.

Lastly is a question for anyone reading: on my Manticore, I'm painting up the rockets, and I'm not sure to leave them gunmetal or if I should paint them up with markings, etc., like in GW's. Thoughts or ideas?

(Note that I'm not done painting the targeting lenses; I know they're a bit ugly right now, lol)
Well, that about wraps it up for now. School picks up tomorrow, and the next shot I'll have at painting will most likely be next weekend. In the meantime, I may find time to write an article either about my Marines' homebrew fluff, or perhaps a short showing of my arriving order (it's a biggie, actually, you'll see when I post...). Anywho, you all take care, and thanks for keeping your interest i my blog thus far!
